This past weekend I headed down to the National Mall to see a new exhibit about Jim Henson and his creations (muppets, fraggle rock, seasame street, etc). Photography wasn't allowed in the exhibit but I thought I would share a few of my other photos as it was a beautiful day!exotic palms surrounding an urn near the smithsonian castle.these roses were so fragrant you could smell them from 20 feet away!one of the castle's towers (rear entrance)
an exhibit in the castle of some of their random 'treasures'.
entrance to the exhibit in the international galleries underground beside the castle
a great quote from Jim Henson that summed up the exhibit - it reads
"As children, we all live in a world of imagination, of fantasy, and for some of us that world of make-believe continues into adulthood."

ba da bi, ba da da ba da di - I love Sesame Street and they way he made learning fun for everyone at the crack of dawn. As a parent - it was one of my earliest learning tools. I still love "cookie monster!"
I cried the day Jim Henson died. What an imagination.
I wish I could have taken pics in the exhibit for you, pve. He truely was a creative genius and his sketches proved that. There were other paintings of his he had done, really really great!
Beautiful photos!!
thanks, ATB! I wasn't sure they turned out so well but the subject is beautiful!
Holy CRAP! I'm SO excited to learn about this exhibit! My boyfriend is IN LOVE with all things Jim Henson and would die to see this exhibit. Three-day weekend! Hello!
Thanks for sharing with us!
with love from Pittsburgh...
You guys need to come down to see it! Only 4 1/2 hour drive -and we could have lunch!
I'm just across the river from D.C. Will have to go see this.
It's definitely worth checking out, Kathleen!
Love your shot of the palms :)
Thank you, SC! I thought it was intriging. The Urn itself was really beautiful and shrouded by those palms in mystery!
Did you hear the curator interviewed on NPR? Might have been Diane Rehm...
No, I missed that, PD! Since I sold my car I don't really listen to the radio -I miss NPR!
