However, his home looks to be more of a museum and not very cozy; sort of cluttered and leggy. I've selected 2 of the 'better' photos to show here. He is a collector, I understand that - plus he has other homes and this acts more of a collection showroom and a hotel room for him in NY.
The tone of the article however........VERY disappointing. A negative and elitist man, he didn't have a positive thing to say about anyone or anything other than Latin America. While I agree with much of what he says, especially politically, this is someone I would NOT like have dinner with. How can someone with such obvious great taste be such a DRAG and Debbie Downer. He has a great eye though...I'll give him that. I'm interested in what all of you think though - was he overly negative or am I just being too sensitive? Also, for someone who talks about how UGLY new york is, maybe he should have a better photo to show what he really looks like.Comment, please!

He exudes confidence in his collection and I can see what he means about some of his comments. You have to also imagine the interview, so often as it is written, much is misunderstood. With a collection like that, I would still like a visit and to bring some fabulous paint to give those walls some cheering up!
So easy to become jaded in NY.
true a lot of it was probably the tone of the interview. He does have an eye, if not for putting things together but for individual pieces. Thanks for helping me look on the positive side, PVE :-)

My observation comes from a decade of crossing paths and having mutual friends. That being said, his eye is impeccable.
well, everyone's entitled to their own opinion :-) But I do agree that his eye IS impeccable!!
He is my uncle and he is fabulous! If I can tell you something about him is that he is NOT a drag. He is tough and direct, but you have to be like that being a minority in such a crazy city to stand out and prove yourself. Also, a tone in text can be very different from the spoken one, so be careful to judge in the future.
