Cabinet of Curiosities

I hope everyone enjoys their first weekend of summer! Nothing says summer more to me than seashells from the beach. Why not display them in a gorgeous antique cabinet, such as this one from the Getty Museum in LA; what could be better?!

Shells - an essential part of rococo decoration - and in a terrific rococo cabinet. Beautiful.

What an interesting choice of display! I love the "chicken wire" mesh, and the sense of contradiction.

I've collected dozens of curiosities: seashells, coral, starfish, minerals, feathers, sea sponges, nests, antlers, etc. Now I just need the cabinet to display them in! This one's gorgeous! Hopefully I can find one very much like it.

When you make your own cabinet of curiosities, I'll supply the sand dollars!

Love the juxtaposition of the natural shells and the elaborately crafted cabinet...

Fabulous, Stefan. Is it my imagination or are they
of a particularly large scale most of those shells? Maybe it's an optical illusion which gives even more credit to the cabinet.
