Fall

Now that fall is here and in full swing, I find myself longing for cozy places to curl up. I prefer my bed with piles of pillows with a stack of magazines and pot of tea. Where do you like to hibernate?

I'd pick #1, #4 or #5. If I had my druthers- at a fabulous hotel where I could come home each day to crisp, fresh, white linens!

I love white linens year round, James :-) Patterns and colors are pretty, but only white for me please!

Gee, with the first photo, add a canopy and bed curtains and you've almost got my bed!! No gold inlay, however.

NICE, pte! Do you have dark walls, fireplace and chandelier as well? I put that one first because it's my favorite room

I'd love any of these spots. Right now I'd like someone to come in and give my space a complete overhaul. I'm too tired to do it myself.

all you need is white sheets and lots of comfy pillows, Kwana!

In my country house is a very small space adjacent to the sitting room. It is painted azalea pink, has a 19th-century daybed piled with pillows, a handy lamp, and a single window with a view over a rolling valley. It is the perfect hibernation spot.

AAL, that sounds perfect for an afternoon read and nap :-)

In my cozy bed, with white sheets and my pooch beside me. There is a famous drawing by Annie Tempest and her hubby Dicky turns to her in the four poster canopied bed, besotted with dogs - and says,"Dear, are you warm enough or shall we throw another dog on the bed" I do love a room with a crackling fire and a candle a flicker.

I'm in love with #2, but I've always liked cocoon sort of spaces, vessel nooks and the like. I keep thinking, where and how could I put a sleeping pod in my house, but alas - no space quite right. Lovely though, the curtain, the seagrass rug, all of those pillows - it's just lovely!

I agree Niartist! Have you been to Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's estate? His bedroom has his study and bedroom seperated by a sleeping nook like this - open on each side to both rooms. I've always wanted a bed like that!

I'm a bed hibernator as well, with coffee, laptop, and schnauzers. I have to diverge on white sheets. I like them on any bed but my own, where I find them too bright. So ours are all in beiges or taupes, some with some texture, but all in solid colors.

I've been lobbying for new bedroom furniture for the last year, these pictures make me eager to renew my campaign.

I think I recognise the first pic...a hotel in London by any chance? All of them are great images, of great style and sophistication.

Columnist, yes, that first picture is from a hotel in london (i forget the name of the hotel though!).
David, i think any light colored neutral is equally cozy (if not more so) -I like the idea of textures!

I love the cozy hide-away. In college, I had a closet that had a shelf just big enough for a double bed mattress, and I ended up making that my bed. I think maybe I'm the opposite of claustrophobic. I love being fenced in on as many sides as possible. It makes me feel like I'm being hugged by the room. Now all I need is a couple sci-fi novels, a cup of cocoa, a rainy day, and a roaring fire. I love fall!

alex, I love the idea of the closet bedroom -so cozy!! I wish my studio had a closet big enough to do that with!

That first photo looks heanvenly! I love my bedroom too, but I also like my living room which has the only fireplace in the house and NO TV....so it is a peaceful room to curl up in and read.
