Gilt andirons

From the period rooms at the Met, these gilt andirons are the perfect addition to any holiday hearth!
You could always tell your kids that the stags are Santa's flying reindeer!

Such consternation this post has caused in so many ways here at Dilettante Manor. First, I instantly became dissatisfied with the andirons in the fireplace in front of me after seeing these gorgeous items..

Second, I then tried to think of the French name for this sort of fire dog, and though I could have just googled it, that would be cheating...so for the last six hours, it's kept popping through my head: Chemin de fer? Nope, that's a form of baccarat. Charvet? No, silly Dilettante, that's the French luxury shirtmaker...and then, finally a few minutes ago, Eureka! Chenets!!! I can go to sleep now.

I have the same photo! I actually loved the logs too.
My husband and I could imagine what a fire in that hearth and those andirons all aglow! Spectacular.
