Katherine Hepburn

While going through some pictures I took, I came across this photo of Katherine Hepburn's portrait at the National Portrait gallery along with 4 of her oscars. I love that you can see how the Oscar has changed over the years since its' beginnings in 1927; larger as time has passed (much like our nation's cars and waist bands!). Stamps with Hepburn's image are currently available at the USPS HERE. I used them on my Christmas cards this year and have already had a lot of comments about them! I may have to stock up again.

What fun, and how nice to see a post that isn't about holiday decorating! I rather tongue-in-cheekishly bought the Kate Smith commemorative stamps for our cards this year. Nowhere near as stylish as KF, I admit! Reggie

Kate Smith? We're doing wide this year at the PO?

LOVE her, of course, and this post is such a great idea. Yes, not another Xmas decor, as Reggie Darling says. Merci.

If only the "actresses" of today had a percentage of her elegance and talent. Yesterday I watched "Holiday" with Katherine and Cary Grant. She plays a Society heiress and lives in this insanely big and beautiful marble townhouse. The interiors themselves made the movie worth watching.

I have to say, I think I prefer the small Oscar! K.H. is wonderful. I must get these stamps. Thank you!

I prefer the earliest one. looks like a granite base? and the fact that it has a patina (the new ones look too "new")

The neo-nazi who makes trips to our village post office so frightening failed to order the Hepburn stamps. Most annoyed was the Dilettante.
