A touch of mirror

I have this great tray on my coffee table (Victoria Hagan 'shagreen' tray from Target) that has seen many different lives. Tonight I went to my local hardware store and had them cut some mirror to fit inside. I love it, especially at night. Lets look at some of the previous versions of it.
Previously, it had just been some cork I had glued down that you can see here around the bric-a-brac. The tray has been this way for the past year. The turquoise square is a large glass coaster of sorts so I had somewhere to set my drink and not stain the cork!In an even older version ( 2 years ago) I had a gold and black patterned paper on it. The paper was easy to replace if it got dirty, the cork however was not and held stains easily. I think the mirror is the best version! What do you think?

o.m.g. I'm obsessed with mirror these days . . . thinking about mirroring the top of my desk at the office . . . lol.

SO not practical - but, damn it'd be marvelous.

Mirror trays are great. I have three on my sideboard with various cut glass decanters, and glasses. I'll post about it....

I say yes to the mirror! For your next change, try coloured glass. And next put down a cheery fabric or wallpaper and cover with clear glass. And then do some leather. Or a crocodile vinyl.

I have 2 butler tables as my night stands and I put the mirror in the trays and what a difference. When you turn the lights they reflect and they ad a very cool ambiance to the room. Brilliant!

It's great. Which hardware store in DC did you go to that will cut mirror?

Thanks everyone, I really like it! Plus I think it will be really easy to keep clean -just a bit of windex.
Dickie, I got it at Logan Hardware -but any Ace Hardware will be able to do it.

I can never get enough of mirrored things. I want Miles Redd's kitchen and bath. Looks great and very creative.

AAL, I was thinking of getting a piece of clear glass as well and then use different papers beneath. That will be my next hardware run when I tire of the mirror!!

Love the mirror. I have them all over the house and I have used beveled mirror as tops for tables instead of the traditional glass tops. It adds sparkle, and night glam. Windex is my BFF.

Just great. Very "wow" with lit candles on top.

Love the mirror. The flickering of the candle flames reflecting from the mirror at night will be nice.

The mirror looks perfect. It's great that you have managed to give it so many incarnations and record them as well. But in the end I thing the mirror is how it should be.
