Going, going, GONE!

As many of you have been reading and are probably already aware, Google Reader will be ceasing operation on July 1st ( blog lists on blogs showing updated posts). This is how I personally read blogs and I know a number of other people do as well so we all have to find another way to keep up to date!
I've signed up for Bloglovin after having issues with some of the other recommendations I've seen. Every day I get an easy to navigate email with the new postings for the blogs I had entered into the website.  It seems to work well although I'll still miss my blog list here on my blog!
I won't bore you with a lot of redundant information but a great writeup of options can be found at Pigtown Design HERE. As always you can sign up for an easy email of ArchitectDesign sent to you on the upper right hand sidebar "FOLLOW BY EMAIL" on this page by simply adding your email and hitting 'submit'.  You can also sign up for this blog via amazon which will upload directly to your kindle for a small fee (see information here).  Otherwise please consider adding ArchitectDesign to whatever blog reader service you choose to use as I'm happy to have YOU as a reader! Happy Blogging!

I also read / follow many blogs from my blog list, so I'll miss the daily updates. Will check on Bloglovin now. Thanks for the reminder!!

Had no idea whatsoever, and like you, I keep abreast of new posts via my own blogs. Thank you for the suggestion!

I am so upset google reader is leaving. On my ipad I use feedler and I just found The Old Reader it is almost the same as Google Reader. At least right now I am still getting all my blog updates.

Waa, waa, waa! I hate changing my habits but I guess we all will have to.

That is disappointing as I, too, depend on BLOG LIST for updates. In addition, I get some new readers for my own blog from that, I'm sure. It will difficult for new Bloggers to build up a following, I'm afraid. But I'll check out bloglovin. Thanks, Stefan.

I am rather old school (almost 60)and challenged in this area. Does this news mean that this delightful blog site will disappear from the internet? Will all your older postings disappear with it? Will there be a new blog to replace it? I hope that we're not going to lose out on your fabulous articles on DC landmarks (I've been waiting for you to do an article on the one DC landmark you've yet to post on this site, the legendary Willard Hotel).

I think I have had my head in the sand on this one. I had no idea! I always check what my favorites are doing... the list let's me know when they have posted.
Lists on friends blogs have led me to new blogs when a topic catches my eye.
I'll look into your recs, thanks so much for doing the leg work!

Newport Bill -no, this blog and others will be here! The only thing changing is that the blog roll list on the right hand corner will be gone. For the past number of years it has displayed in order of current postings all of my favorite blogs.

Now I'm not sure how to discover new blogs?

From what I understand it is only Google Reader which will stop, NOT the Reading list which is on your blogger home page. Reader and the Reading list are not the same thing. So you will still get your updates via your homepage. I don't know how this works if you use an IPhone though.

This is so disappointing. I use my blog widget and Google Reader on my Flipboard. I just hate it when i get something all dialed in and they dump it for no apparent reason. If it wasn't for the sidebar lists on other blogs I never would have found THIS wonderful blog.
