Wall Mural

The December 2008 issue of Metropolitan Home features the home of 2 architects in Portland, Oregon. A husband and wife effort, she sewed together fabric panels and he painted a scene of a traditional room as a sort of stage set for their master bedroom. I could see this done very easily straight on the wall for contrast in a modern home such as this. I love this idea! The more sketchy the mural the better! Note to self: file this away in 'things to consider'

Not to you; allow me to come help or to paint a sketchy mural for you...I do love this! It is like setting a stage for daily life. "Life's a stage!"

Very nicely done! And romantic/evocative too. It's rather like a mural at Pompeii.

A very talented couple this architect husband and wife team. There is a lot of good design coming out of Portland.

What a great way to perk up a tired apartment.

Patricia, I figured that was right up your alley! I wish I had room!! I have so much artwork and such a tiny apartment: It will have to wait for my 'dream house'!

Portland is amazing P. Gray! Probably one of my top 5 favorite cities i've ever visited!
AAL, interesting you should mention pompeii and the 'fakeish' trompe l'oeil they used there simlar to this: right now at the national gallery of art here in DC is an EXCELLENT exhibition on pompeii with many examples of this artwork. I think you would really enjoy it!
