Oddly enough, one of my favorite things about New York is the presence of nature in the city.
Central Park is so much more majestic for its city setting and natural / city contrasts.
While in New York last weekend,
Habitually Chic and I enjoyed the fine spring weather and spent the afternoon wandering around this paradise with ice cream cones. Maybe a little too long, I'm still suffering from my peeley sunburn!
Another piece of nature lies on the medians of Park Avenue. The pink metal rose sculptures by Will Ryman are surrounded by spring tulips for a short time every year.
A city of contrasts: the man-made and the natural working in harmony. Enjoy your weekend!

We who are fortunate enough to have lived in the city that never sleeps and it's surrounding areas boast about our parks and the verdant paradise in the midst of the concrete jungle. My favorite park in the world is Central Park.

Good morning! It is a delight to begin the day with your photos of NYC in spring. Thank you!
I'll be walking in Central Park later this month — can't wait!
What roses!
A peely sunburn, my fair-skinned friend? I'm jealous, we haven't seen enough spring sun up here to even put a blush on our pallor.
It is an amazing composition, the contrast of the city and the park.
I'm inspired to go and have a picnic in sheep's meadow.
I must say I think those metal rose sculptures are hideous.
We won't get there till the heat of summer has taken over but, yes, we'll take a walk in the park. It is such a pleasure to see the trees ringed with tall buildings and walk in one of the best gardens in the world. Love the big metal roses!
I was there 2 weeks ago and nothing was blooming. Par for the course.

I was just driving up Park with my DH last week and wanted to get a pic of the tulips and these fantastic sculptures. Alas my DH was going too fast and I kept missing them. I'm so glad you got them!
We are so lucky to have had Fredrick Law Olmsted design so many of our city parks & neighborhoods. He certainly left us with wonderful green spaces. Fortunately they were not destroyed to make room for yet another skyscraper or parking lot.
Not crazy for the metal sculptures though.
Just moved to the city and found your blog! I walk CP every day with my dog and am in awe that I now live here!!
LOVE the art exhibits they place on the medians. Rock on NYC! Can't wait to see these for myself next month, but with the tulips in bloom it is heaven.
Damn...I just got back from NYC and one of the things I meant to make time for was to ramble over to Park Ave and see that installation...you just reminded me I forgot!

It would be hard not to have your spirits lifted by this installation! I'd sure love a few of those roses for my garden.
