Ernst Wahliss
This saucer is made by the Wahliss company in Austria between 1902 and 1910. The gilding is extremely beautiful depicting birds, grasses and bugs and is raised upon a deep blue background. In the middle are a pair of intials which look to be added later as the gilding is different and not raised. This was probably made for display ( which is exactly what I use it for on my bookshelf! ).

new flowers!
You must think I get flowers all the time! About once a week I pop into whole foods for some fresh flowers to brighten up my home :-) These white and pink lilies were so cheap they were practically free!I love the different moods the 2 different pictures have -one with flash, one without. I cut off the stamen inside (per martha's intructions, of course) so that they won't drop pollen all over my apartment! That martha is just full of good ideas!

POOLHOUSE
This poolhouse in this month's AD made me DROOL! Designed by 'Historical Concepts' for a plantation in South Carolina -this would be the ideal place for a twilight cocktail party among 1000's of tealights or a restful afternoon spot for a nap and a good book! The pool looks ornamental but is probably fully functional as well. The fact that it is indoors means it doesn't need one of those hideous fences required by code!
The symetrical neoclassical lines and the large french doors that open it into the garden are what really attract me. The look of the outdoors would work equally as well for a residence as a poolhouse!

dream kitchen!
In this month's Veranda magazine, I came across what is probably my dream kitchen! A remodel by designer Carol Glasser, the focus is on the space and light -not on overdesigned appliances! It is all light and air for an elegant, vintage feel- totally liveable.
The March / April issue is really full of great articles, I hope you get a chance to check it out!
