Georgetown

This past weekend held one of my favorite annual events, the Georgetown house tour. While photos are understandably not allowed of the tour, I was snap happy with plenty of inspiration around me! I always associate Georgetown with gas lanterns, I especially loved the contrast between this white painted stone and black metalwork seen above. I noticed a lot of houses (not on the tour) were for sale, a sad testament of the times. Many of the homes featured this year held unexpected surprises: be it ultra modernity or amazingly grand spaces behind sedate exteriors. The lineup was superb and varied. Don't miss the tour next year, it never disappoints and supports a great cause.

I would love to go on one of these, and wish they had such things here, but sadly not. I suppose the next best thing is going to view properties (for sale), but sometimes the ghastly decoration is too much to bear, but I suppose it gets the creative juices flowing as to how you might make them habitable for those of us with an eye for beauty. You can see how objective I'm being here!

I always love a good home tour! I went on one this weekend too. Getting to go behind (normally) closed doors is such a treat.

I desperately adore gas lit spots and candle light in the windows! What a fun tour to light up your weekend.

Unfortunately, I couldn't attend this year. It's usually a wonderful tour. I agree with you so many houses for sale, especially on N street!

I thought SURELY you'd sneak an accidental snapshop of an amazing interior, no? ha LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the iron gas lantern with the rich wood of the entrance in the background. Thanks for sharing AD! Have a great week.

Best regards,

I spent much of my adolescence living in Washington, and always loved visiting Georgetown. Really a lovely area, full of beautifully preserved buildings and gardens. Reggie
