beach house

I've been working with MQ windows out of Canada (the NICEST custom windows) on a project and they sent some examples of their work. One is this BEAUTIFUL beach house with a pool. This is my idea of the perfect beach house! Clean-lined and modern yet still retaining that traditional N.E. style beach look. Love the black frames and all those french doors opening the house to the yard! Such a shame that pools need those hideous fences to meet code -that ruins it!They also sent this house. I am not sure how I feel about it........is it hideous or great? I love that little entry wing, but there is a lot going on in general. I'm sure this is a big house -but it looks cluttered and small........comments? reactions?

  1. I agree with you, the 2nd one, I have named, "Villa Gorilla" - to much, too showy and too landscaped.
I like the 1st one, classic yet modern.

  2. Great name, PVE! I think they had a contest to see how many features they could fit onto the facade of their home!

  3. yes - great name. It COULD be a beautiful home but for the front wings - too much!!! totally detracts from the facade - the front should be flat, clean lined, be instead it have those two wings with the portholes, hideous.

  4. I agree, CdT - i'm always a fan of the clean lines -too much going on here! Why are there portholes on a building anyway? LOL

  5. It looks like "point n'click" architecture... i'll have four of these, two of these here balconies in a nice overdone wrought iron, a mansard roof, some wings and an oriel window... oh and chuck some palladian windows in while you're at it. eee-gads!

  7. I have seen this house in person and this is a horrible picture. The house is huge and when looking at it from straight out it look amazing. Shitty picture!!!
