Seura magic tvs!

Recently while doing some research at work I came across Seura tv's. They're the company that makes those bathroom mirrors that have little tv screens hidden in them. Well - apparently they also do full size mirrored tvs too!
While the picture quality probably won't be winning any awards, I think this is such a great idea for a secondary tv, dont' you? I love the look of the tv above. Beveled edge even on the mirror! I could see one of these with a big chunky antique frame. It would be great if they came in an antiqued mirror finish, but that may be asking too much.please ignore the ugly room, but here you see the tv in action. Not theater quality but not bad!
Maybe in the living room? They really do look like mirrors! I think in my dream house I'd have one over a fireplace in the living room (as my prefered tv watching location is in bed!). What do you think of them?

  1. A discreet tv/ mirror in a living room would be nice, but I think I prefer to keep the living room sacred for conversation and entertaining.

  2. I've seen one of these in a bathroom/dressing room and really liked it. If you could sit in your tub and watch a movie that would be great.

  3. I've seen them too and love the idea. I get more questions on living room design and flat screens than you can imagine.

  4. PVE, I'm not very sacred, I say tv's everywhere! It takes willpower though!
MNH - Thats a great idea -we've done that a lot for clients!
Homer, YES!!! i swear we spend more time designing houses around where flat screen tvs will be hung! people seem so flabbergasted by them!

  5. Very impressive. It really is great to be a decorator in the era of flat screens of all shapes!

  6. I was actually looking at these at the design center last week.

I remember saying when I first started designing rooms with flat screen tv installations - - "thank god. these are beautiful pieces of equipment and I can stop having to try to hide them." lol.

    maybe I spoke too soon.

  7. Tartan, I still agree though. Maybe it's the practical architect in me but I don't think there is anything wrong with seeing a nice flat panel tv. But most clients don't see it that way and we try to disguise and hide them in all sorts of crazy ways.

  8. I have a mirror over my fire place and I'd love one of these magic tv's there. Very cool.

  9. I'm sorry but I think they're really tacky. Maybe it my bias as a non-TV owner/watcher, but I think TVs should be hidden in some sort of cabinet, if a person simply must own one.

  10. Yes, Kwana, i agree!
Anon, lots of people do think seeing a tv is tacky. I think the mirror hides them well - if you look at that one picture it looks like a normal mirror over a fireplace! I think it's a much better and discrete way to hide a tv than in a big, bulky and obvious cabinet.

  11. i see 'Tacky Anon' has been to visit.

I think the Mirrored TV screen is fab. I am so picky though, the frame could make it or break it for me.

  12. Rather than clutter up the walls, I think everyone should just carry an Ipod Touch with them. It's their own personal TV!!

  13. We keep the living room free of television. It's a more formal room.

But, we put the flat screen over the fireplace in the new family room. I think it's practical and smart for architects to design space for the flat panel televisions. They are here to stay.

  14. Great..there's one idea of mine. First I wanted to put / hang a small flatscreen inbetween some black and white pics in black frames with a broad passe-partout; as if the TV screen is a piece of art as well when it's on of course. Now I changed my mind..thx!

I will not comment anymore...too much! Just know I LOOOOVE your blog, okay?
