In the March / April 2009 issue of 'The English Home' magazine is an radiator cover in a beautiful London home. While this is a table provided by 'White' in Paris, it could easily have been 2 old limestone or terra cotta corbels from your local salvage yard with a marble slab resting on top. Such a great solution for those ugly radiators many of us have in our homes!

Radiator Cover
In the March / April 2009 issue of 'The English Home' magazine is an radiator cover in a beautiful London home. ReplyDeleteHi Stefan - just a wonderful idea but what I do not understand is that they did not find a solution to the ugly front as well. This appears to me just as a job half done. I would have closed this with a stone carving, leaving enough warm air to circulate through it.

ReplyDeleteNice. Very nice. Love the way that the vertical lines of the radiator pipes become framed as a design element. Then again the excellent pair of lamps, the overscaled clock and the marble corbels themselves all do contribute to a riveting composition.
ReplyDeleteI would have maybe covered up the front too even with some tall chinoiserie vases but it's an interesting idea. A lot of apartments in NYC have radiators under the windows and you have to built a big box to hide them which then causes problems if you want to hang draperies to the floor. it's a nightmare!
ReplyDeleteReally, I thought that the whole point was the fact of the radiator being left uncovered, while the eye was being satisfied with the dominant things around it. Anyone can box in a radiator. It took guts to leave it alone, wouldn't you say?
