My favorite was just in so not yet on their website so you'll have to deal with my cellphone shot. The iron body with Greek key design, smokey crystals sharing space with gilded iron, rock crystal, and amethyst took my breath away. I really wish I had a spot (and the budget) for it in my apartment!
If you have a moment, take a peak at this website here which has a lot of vintage photographs of Bagues work. Also be sure to see the detailed blogpost that The Devoted Classicist wrote on the company earlier this year. And they're not just history as Maison Bagues, is alive and well; you can visit their showroom your next trip to Paris!
It's been a while since I visited Artisan. Will make a trip there soon to check out this Bagues beauty!
ReplyDeleteAh I love this. One of my "design resolutions" is to learn more about the history of different light fixture makers and styles. Thanks for sharing with good links!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link, Stefan. I really like the way they often conceal small bulbs within the cluster of crystals and/or bobeches to boost the light without depending solely on the 'candle'.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful, the top one is absolute elegance. Thanks for the info. Almost could be on the Downton Abby set.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year

Hi, Stefan,
ReplyDeleteI can see why this store is one of your favorite spots — beautiful pieces!
Visited the websites including that of Maison Bagues, thanks for the links. These light fixtures are stunning. Artisan has a huge collection :) but pictures don't do justification. I can imagine the sparkle coming out of these crystal chandeliers...
