Living Buildings

Near the Pompidou Centre in Paris is another modern building. This one is a bit more natural than metal and plastic tubing though! The men's department of the local department store BHV is housed in a building with a living or green wall. As windows aren't always condusive to a shop, I think this is a brilliant way of covering a facade without leaving a blank slate.

  1. Beautiful! I love how the greenery softens the wall.
Thanks for pointing out some of the more modern architecture in Paris. I'm afraid I was just so taken with all the old & historic buildings I missed quite a few of these.

    Can't wait to get back.

  5. I followed your posts as often as I could in France and Italy - except in Rome where the hotel wanted a ridiculous 20 Euros a day for Internet access - and thoroughly enjoyed them. I've yet to see a green wall and look forward to it. Happy New year, belatedly.

  7. Happy New Year, Stefan!

This makes me think of Patrick Blanc and his vertical gardens.

Again, thanks for the virtual adventure.

    Cheers,

  8. Thank you for including this picture among all the beautiful historic architecture. I love the green wall/roof trend, and am happy to see it flourish.
