Nothing much, just an exquisite bronze light fixture outside of John Russell Pope's Temple of the Scottish Rite here on 16th street in Washington, DC. A patina'd fixture, proving that quality lasts the test of time.
My first impression of the image was of two branches of a plant. Now I've stopped hallucinating I can see what a beauty that lamp is - especially with a tripod base - and would love to use it in a room (rescaled, of course.)

Very interesting design, unusual for outside.

Now would not they be fabulous adopted as standard lamps?
ReplyDeleteVery classic. I'm guessing that there are three clawed feet on the bottom. I'll take two!
ReplyDeleteDavid, they would be fabulous indoors as well!
ReplyDeleteMark, you are correct on the clawed feet. And there just have to be 2 on the exterior porch!
What is the Scottish Rite temple there like as a whole?
ReplyDeleteThe one here is in a dicey neighborhood but it's really kind of an interesting building. I should do a little research on these.
David, I'm happy to show more tomorrow! It's a beautiful building and in a great location - 8 blocks or so north of the white house.
