My own Petit Trianon

Last night while watching the finale of Downton Abbey (was anyone else as frustrated as I am with the lack of resolution within ANY of the story lines?) I took my own advice and built my own little Petit Trianon.
It turned out pretty well although I wasn't able to figure out the wing walls for the courtyard elevation above (so I cut them off).
Much like the original, it's a little jewel box! I love the little parapet detail at the roof. If anyone else decides to build one, I would love to see the final result, especially if you figured out how the courtyard walls work.

  1. Stefan, well I am very impressed with your creation!!

Did not watch the series, and now am not sure about getting the DVD, afraid I will be disappointed as well.

  3. Looks wonderful. You crack me up w/the cutting off the wings.

  4. OOps! Petit Trianon has walls on either side... can you glue them back on?

  5. It looks wonderful. Downloaded the template and hoping to make on the weekend, or tomorrow if it is a snow day!

  6. That is so cool, but an architect defacing a building...scandalous!

  7. Oh it's so cute - have not tried it yet. Laughed when I read you cut off the wing walls!! And as you know I most definitely was frustrated with the ending of Downton Abbey - as you say - absolutely NOTHING resolved. It's killing me!!

  8. We have another snow day....so I am printing this out for "les petit enfants" to construct. Oh, defacing the building....bring out the guillotine...off with your head!

  9. I am printing it out for later. I can't wait to put it together. I can't promise that I'll get to it soon but I think I'll print several and let my older kids have a go too.

  10. I think they may have left Downton up in the air so they could assure getting funding for a second series. But you are right, it was frustrating. I could barely wait from week to week for the next episode. How am I going to wait for the next series to be made and aired?

  11. That's wonderful! And yes I was breathless at the end of Downton Abbey. They had better be filming part 2 quick. Grrrrr!

  12. Haha, nice job on the model. Not sure if the courtyard wall can work the way it is... It looks like two flaps.

  13. Love that you, the architect, "winged it." I actually loved the ending of Downton Abby (knowing, of course, more is to come). I think it all a lush, layered metaphor for the end of a world, of the unknown seeping into everything.

  14. Hello Stefan,
I enjoy your blogs and photos so much.
Although I am not big on cutting and pasting, I did do the Petit Trianon. My roof line didn't drop, so there is no balcony edging. However, I didn't cut off the wings. I suspect that the one on the rear just go straight back.

  15. Love this project!
Downtown Abbey will be back for a 2nd season, they've already started filming.
