Thought I would share this old passageway from a mansion in Georgetown which has been converted into seperate townhouses. Imagine this being your entrance everyday - notice the secret garden beyond. Such a charming neighborhood!
Love this shot and also love when this concept is incorporated into design - a small enclosed space opening to a larger open one - always wanted a little charming paneled vestibule leading to master bedroom!
I'll take it! One of my favorite motifs is the walk-through, or drive through opening in a building. Not to be confused with drive through windows at McDonalds.

Looks so European! I love the arch and the garden within.

So charming, I might just like to stand in there and listen to the rain.
ReplyDeleteThat is both welcoming and mysterious. I am dying to see what lies beyond!
ReplyDeleteFabulous eye Stefan.

Stunning...would love to see the garden beyond -
ReplyDeleteI can never resist a barrel vault.
ReplyDeleteI too cannot resist passageways like this. They hark back to another era! Toronto University has some great ones

ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteI love the view beyond and the meticulously painted white brick...something I almost never see in Maine.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo! There is something about an arch w/ tunnel that makes one feel something, maybe that something is security at end of the tunnel.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to look for this passageway the next time I'm walking around Georgetown!
