Whats the first thing you see when you get home? If you have this condo (office?) in Carmel, CA, it just may be Ganesha, an Indian god. Why have an ordinary door knocker when you can have something
extraordinary like this instead (and I am loving this green door)? A house may be about location, size and style but a home is in the details.
I like the symbolism here: Ganesha is known as a remover of obstacles. What does a knocker do? It alerts a homeowner to remove the obstacle of the door to his or her guest. Cute.
ReplyDeletedetails do make all the difference.
ReplyDeletelovely doorknocker.

Yep it is all in the details. Love Nostalgia's comment!
ReplyDeleteI dunno, Stefan, don't you think it looks vaguely Republican?
ReplyDelete(Some day, some clever person is going to start a business that sells really great doorknockers -- state-of-the-art copies of the thousand best knockers from the past 200 years. Affordably-priced and available directly to the end-purchaser. That person will wind up very, very rich.)
The little details make all the difference. Love it.
ReplyDeleteCalifornia is just a never-ending supply of inspiration, Stefan, isn't it? Great stuff you've been posting.

ReplyDeletePVE & David, details make a house a home!
Ancient, I think it looks Indian....don't think there is anything wrong though with an owner, if they are a republican,to have an elephant knocker if they chose.
Michael, I really really love northern CA (notice..northern!)
