Crazy Gondola Bed

This cold and rainy night here in DC has me thinking cozy thoughts. This crazy oval bed in the Louvre would be just the spot for a cup of tea and a good book. I wonder what sort of room it was originally in: courtesan's bedroom perhaps?
The wallpaper panels in the background aren't too shabby either! Love the collection of French blue opaline glass in the display case behind too!

  1. A gondola bed, I think, and very beautiful it is too. If you can get your hands on a copy of French Scenic Wallpaper, 1795 - 1865. Excellent book and you'd enjoy it, I'm sure. Glass is wonderful, too.

  4. Reminds me of the even more decadent gondola-shape Canoe sofa Eileen Gray designed for milliner Suzanne Talbot and her husband, Mathieu Levy. It was in the shape of a dugout canoe, very long and lean and unbelievably sensual.

It would be interesting to sleep in. Isn't it somehow small? Those bottles are totally magic..it reminds me tolls used in book Perfume by Patrick Süskind. Great!
