Trellis work at Versailles

The thing that spurred our trip to Paris in the first place, for both Heather and I, was a passion to visit Versailles. The gardens are especially spectacular and have had many evolutions over the history of the chateau. Probably my favorite thing I've seen in pictures so far is the trelliswork that surrounds the Fountain of Enceladus, seen here. It won't be long now!

  2. I adored Versailles. There is no favorite part as it is all amazing. I have to admit, I loved the gardens most as the chateau itself got overwhelming after a while. Just so MUCH!

Have fun and take lots of pictures please!

  3. The trelliswork is amazing. It astounds me that it has been so thoroughly rebuilt and reinstalled. I love good trelliswork, especially that at The Mount and Villa Trianon. And I long to see the trelliswork (in gilded metal) in Place Stanislas in Nancy.

  4. Yes, this is a MUST see...just remember to wear walking shoes (the gardens are HUGE), bring your own bottled water/food (they sell both but at a price), and you might want to check the fountain schedule...they only run them during certain hours.

    HAVE FUN!

if it was my husband and i going, he would be constantly lifting my chin to ...
close my mouth (and you thought i was going to say 'kiss') ... i hear paris can do that to you!
seriously, i have travelled to england and scotland and the history and the grandeur of the architecture really took my breath away ... i'm sure my mouth was agape a lot!

  8. Spectacular is right! I still remember the garden tour. Each fountain was turned on as we approached and the begonias were in full bloom all over. I had gone in September also, so you will have a treat!

  9. Hi,

Have just started reading your blog (and have just started blogging myself...) and have to tell you just how much you will enjoy Versailles. I have been obsessed with it for years, and went there last year. I haven't travelled a lot but it is hands down the most incredible place I have ever experienced. I spent the ENTIRE day there from open to close constantly saying "oh my god..."

Anyway, take plenty of photos and enjoy!
