Monet at Giverny

Monet created over 250 paintings of the Water lilies or Nympheas at his gardens in Giverny (in Northern France). These paintings always remind me of calm summers, just in time for my yearly pilgrimage to the beach next week!

The gardens of the house he first rented then owned have been open to the public since 1980. I would love to visit while in Paris but I think time is not on our side -next time!

  2. Go - you could do it from Paris. It is beautiful and to walk on that bridge looking at the pond is lovely.

  3. Every time I water at night in my stone terraces,(not such a good practice but in high 90's the lesser of evils), I think of Monet and his children watering their newly created terraces. I think of the synergy of creating gardens to paint and the beauty that is Monet's garden that remains for us to enjoy. The painterly eye in the composition of any garden is unmistakable and such joy to see.
