Last year I was looking for new knobs to update a console I have. The ones that came with it are just boring and cheap looking, but I love the lines of the piece (see that old post here). I basically wanted to just freshen it up a bit.You can see the old knobs above: Cheap aluminum finish and just a boring design. I've tried out a few different knobs but nothing has ever worked -TILL NOW! I found these Ephram knobs at Restoration Hardware that I just LOVE!
Nickel finish: not flashy or ornate but heavy, good quality and just pretty! You like them? Should I keep them?
I would keep them. They look like they belong.
ReplyDeleteThings like this are always so hard, it is in the details and therein lies the devil! Do you like them? I am hearing a bit of hesitation. They seem more substantial and look spiffy!

very handsome!
ReplyDeleteThe old ones on the right don't look like the ones above but either way, the new ones are beautiful and look more substantial.

U are brilliant !
ReplyDeleteI'm 99% sure I like them and that they look like they belong. Why do I let this little stuff get to me? LOL I think I've thought about it so long and hard that I don't know what I think anymore or what looks good. Thats why I needed everyone's opinions! I'm thinking they look ok then :-)
ReplyDeleteI really like them - I think they don't look out of place. Keepers!

They are great. I like everything from RH in their nickel finish-I got a great bar cart from them in nickel that I just love. People that are the best at what at they do are very detail oriented. One of my favorite design books-A Passion for Detail-Charlotte Moss
ReplyDeleteYour are making me laugh! I do the same thing...become sooooo fixated on something that I can't think straight or then I can't commit 100%! It looks great! Finding a wedding gown was a NIGHTMARE!
ReplyDeleteRonda, I can't even imagine the pressure of a wedding dress! Thank god I'll never have to worry about that! LOL
ReplyDeleteblack tux and you're done!
Stefan-Not really just a black tux choice for men-what about morning coats? That's what my wedding party wore-very British.
ReplyDeleteI think of hardware as jewelry: it not only has to look good, it has to feel good. When you open the drawers/doors with the new knobs, does it feel good and right in your hand, does it in a quiet way make you feel better just by touching them? Always go with your gut. The brain seems to want to edit this stuff too much. That's why you build your understanding of what you like and why, and when a choice comes your way, your gut knows first before your brain!
ReplyDeleteI think they look great. I love changing out knobs (and buttons!) ~ a great way to transform somthing without a lit of fuss.
ReplyDeleteHow about bin pulls? I TEASE!
ReplyDeleteHardware can make or break a piece. I think these look better than the originals, more substantial but still the right scale. I say keep them.
keep...its not just about the look, im sure they feel great in your hand when you have to retrieve something. im all about the little details.
ReplyDeleteI think these are lovely! Their inviting shape just begs to be touched. And it softens the look of the piece.
ReplyDeleteBut why the agony? If you find you tire of them, switching them out will be painless. After all, it's not like repainting a wall.
I agree with Patricia, they seem much more substantial and look very handsome. Restoration Hardware is a great go to for knobs. Another fab resource are marine/boat centers a la Nate Berkus. I've stored this idea away for future kitchen hardware.
ReplyDeleteps...it sounds like we are a gaggle of perfectionitists!
ReplyDeletemore substantial and I love polished nickel! good buy.
ReplyDeleteThe new ones are a nice addition and do not seem to interfere with the lines. I do feel they were more inspiring up close and individually than they were on the console. Is that my imagination?
ReplyDeleteLove them and they brighten the piece, the console designer would agree! In fact I am going to order some for my master bath. Thanks!
