I'm coveting these St Louis crystal tumblers and glasses featured in
Classic Entertaining I mentioned on Wednesday. I never really liked colored crystal-but a large portion of this book is devoted to them. I think I appreciate them more in a rainbow spectrum such as this and not matched. I'm rethinking in COLOR
cha-ching, cheers to you!
ReplyDeletepretty glasses even for water!
I got the amber cut crystal glasses when I married many years ago and now I have a new appreciation for them........great post!
ReplyDeleteHock glasses are often in colour, though I think the original purpose of the coloured glass was to disguise impurities in the wine ...
ReplyDeleteI love the Tommy collection(I think that's what its called)! we have a set of the blue champagne flutes that were given to us by my partner's mom who is a serious tableware collector. Unfortunately, we have an odd number of 9 which is why she gave them to us. She originally had 12 but lost 4 to chipping or cracking and she does not believe in mixing and matching sets. That's a big plus for me because I like to mix and match patterns and she knows it so we get all her incomplete goodies. Yay!
ReplyDeleteClear crystal is my favorite too, though I used green glasses at my dinner party - they go with my dishes. Hadn't thought of a rainbow effect - but it IS pretty!
ReplyDeleteI covet them too, and in every colour.
ReplyDeletethese are very beautiful. i'm in the minority here, but i've always loved colour. my mother has the most incredible collection of moser coloured cut glass. i like your idea of a rainbow spectrum! i hate matchy-matchy anything.
ReplyDeleteanother great post. cheers.
Love the colorful crystal! Makes for a beautiful post...

Love the darts and dots on the blue one! They remind me of Depression glass a little; maybe it's the colours.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! I love those. Thanks for the photo of them.
ReplyDeletethose are beautiful crystals .. & yah colored & not matching better ;)
ReplyDeleteEvery morning I eat my toaster waffles off mismatched Fiestaware & in the summer I serve iced tea in multicolor aluminum patio tumblers from the 195Os, so if I ever get around to buying good crystal, you know my table's gonna look exactly like that photo. Add a silver bowl of paintbox zinnias in the center & I'm ready to go.
ReplyDeleteMy grandparents had the most gorgeous ruby colored cut crystal wine glasses that they bought in Venice- they are now my parents and make a table look so pretty! I will always have a softness for anything resembling them! Though I do also love the blue tumblers... I think color brings out the detail in the cut crystal so beautifully.
ReplyDeletebeautiful crystal artworks here. Our interior will be much more cozy when filled out by such stuff. Thanks buddy. From Vacant Home Staging
