Charlotte Moss reader question

I received an email from a reader asking about the illustration in a picture in a post I did awhile back on turquoise and red. The image in question is in Charlotte Moss's study - she writes
The illustration in question shows the lower half of a woman holding a handbag, located in far left corner of her office, below a group of 4 smaller photosDo any of you recognize what it is? Can we help my friend out?

  1. No. But turquoise and red really do work, and I'm going to do it next time. I await your other respondents' replies. How intriguing!

  2. Nope, but I am loving that wallpaper!! I am wondering what it is and how I can get it!

I see you are in D.C. and I was wondering if you know Frank Babb Randolph, a wonderful designer there......He is a friend of mine and has been a guest in my home when he spoke at our Antiquarian Society several years ago.

    Love your BLOG!

    best regards,

  3. You might ask Joni over at cotedetexas. She's very informative and full of knowledge.
I think Charlotte Moss has a store in NYC. You may also try calling the store to inquire.

  4. Anon, I sent Joni an email asking her :-) Calling the store to ask is a good idea though!
Mimilee, I don't know Frank Randolph -but maybe we'll cross paths one of these days - DC is like a small town!

  5. I have the answer. It's done by Rene Bouche. A mid century Vogue illustrator. It is of a Christian Dior bag and skirt.

I knew art school would come in handy at some point!! LOL
