the foyer -you know I love a foyer
There has been a lot of bashing in the blogosphere about Architectural Digest lately and it makes me sad. I understand the point of what bloggers are saying that the homes featured have no personality -but in my opinion it is because it's called ARCHITECTURAL digest for a reason. It's not called 'interior design homes'. The focus here is on the interior ARCHITECTURE ( right up my alley! ). I always think these are what the homes look like before being turned over to the owners.the library - BEAUTIFUL couches and love the mouldings!
To prove my point about how fabulous this magazine is and maybe sway some opinions here is a home featured in this month's issue, April 2008.
Thanks for a wonderful post pointing out gorgeous Architecture, and stunning interiors. Adore that gray room. Those mirrors are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThanks PVE - I don't know if it's childish memories or just plain optimism that make me defend AD!
ReplyDeletelove the foyer, third pic and the gray room too. thanks for this alternative look at AD.
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love the foyer. In fact, I adore the first home entirely. The second house is "practically perfect in every way". But, the townhouse in London....hmm.... yes, the architecture is beautiful, but the "interiors" leave much to be desired. But, that's just my opinion ; )
ReplyDeleteIt's all 1 home, scott!! I wasn't pointing out the furniture selections -i just love the porportions and mouldings of the home itself -the ARCHITECTURE -not the interior design :-)
ReplyDeleteyou do realize that the people who put down AD are all under 30 and have no aspirations = that is what AD represents - to aspire to one day attain what we cannot today. They just don't get it. They like domino and don't get AD. Don't take it to heart.
ReplyDeleteFinally someone agrees with me! Thanks CdT! I'm under 30 still ( barely ) - we aren't all so awful :-)
