Highpoint 2012: Hooker Furniture

Among many other fellow bloggers and thousands of industry members, I attended the spring 2012 Highpoint Market under the repeated kind sponsorship of Hooker furniture last weekend (see my posts from last fall and last spring)  Everyone always asks what the new trends are at market and Hooker was right on point with these.
Color was huge again this market, but bright BOLD color. The Belgian influence is around as well, as evidenced by the french gray Pagoda chest from Hooker's Melange collection.

Pattern isn't making its presence known just on the runway, but in furniture as well!

I loved this orange leather Davin sofa from Bradington Young.

And this turquoise upholstered leather seating arrangement was really fun!

Even purple leather was making a show with ebonized legs.

One of the coolest chairs at Hooker though was the Aunt Jane. Believe it or not it's actually a VERY comfortable recliner; style AND function!

Basic slipper chairs get a makeover with options on fabrics, skirts and legs. It's amazing how different the same chair frame can look with these options.

Are you getting the color theme? Not just in fabrics but painted woods as well.

Traditional upholstery was alive and well, like this best selling Kirby chair from Bradington Young.

Or the stationary sofa from the Seven Seas collection. Really love this collection.

How about a little art deco club chair, also from the Seven Seas collection.

It wasn't all upholstery though, the case goods saw color and pattern, like this Vessaro chest from the Melange collection.

Or if you're feeling patriotic or are excited for the upcoming Olympics, how about the Union Jack chest?

This plaid mirrored chest from Melange was really fun, especially when contrasted with the Farrah Flowered Chest.

There just may be a place in my new apartment for the Classique Secretary. When it's closed up it looks just like a normal dresser.

I still love the Sanctuary hutch, seen here in a parchment finish.

And this fretwork pattern on the mirrored Sanctuary console was really fun.

A new collection out this market was Rhapsody. The pieces blend together classic design elements in a grand scale with rustic finishes. We all know this is very popular!

I loved the desk from the Rhapsody office collection. Those scrolled legs!

If your room needs a little more architectural character, how about this Jewelry storage mirror.  The mirror opens to reveal acres of shallow storage!

The Rhapsody dining collection invite you to linger at the table in large comfortable chairs.

I loved the details in the woodwork.

These scroll nesting tables just may find a place in my new apartment too!

Along with those tables, the tufted sleigh bed may just be coming home with me too. Not only is the headboard upholstered for ease of reading in bed, the matching footboard is as well.

Join me this week as I bring you some of my other finds from Highpoint!  Many thanks to Hooker Furniture for making it all possible!
IS ANYONE ELSE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE NEW BLOGGER? I OBVIOUSLY CAN'T GET THE PHOTOS AND THE TEXT TO ALIGN CORRECTLY. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY TIPS?

I'm loving the new blogger interface, but I'm not doing anything overly involved either. I had an alignment issue but it was just on a caption so I let it ride.

You need that secretary, its really beautiful and totally useful. I need that orange sofa.

When do we get to hear about your new place?

Yes, I may be getting a sofa there as well, David. I'll be posting about the apartment for MONTHS once it's all final. Just awaiting the last little thing (co-op board approval) before it's final.

Please save the yellow chair for me or did you take home the floor sample?

Terry, I didn't get a single thing! :-(

I think the new interface is problematic but they seem to be working out the bugs. At first the pictures all went to the top and you had to copy and drag them... at least that is done.

Fun reporting at Highpoint... love all the colorful leather and painted chests.

I was happy to see some improvements over the typical leather sofas and easy chairs usually sold in department and furniture stores.

The new blogger took me a bit. I'm not wild about the standard sizing as I need something between a L and XL for photos. I've had to edit things in the html which seems to be more time consuming!
